PROJECT

The Changemaker Conference is an annual celebration of taking radical action to change the world around us for the benefit of everyone. The conference will highlight some of the most pressing issues we face, as well as those working to find solutions, and will provide practical methods and applications for achieving results during your changemaking journey.

Created and hosted by Project Good Work, the virtual, full day conference successfully occurred in 2023 and 2024. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a part of Project Good Work, a team of myself and Annmarie Hylton. I was in charge of the design and development of the website and materials as well as the technical lead for the duration of the project. This included website design and deployment, social media image creation, video recording and production, creating the virtual conference stage and speaker training guides, moderating the conference day of, and recording and packaging the video on demand for later use.

CHALLENGES

The first conference in 2023 was challenging due to running a first time conference with a minimal team and budget. Learning as I went, I had to quickly gather materials for segment filming while simultaneously learning the conference software and creating the various materials needed.

The second year, I had less that I needed to learn whole cloth, but due to outside concerns and issues, we had an even tighter time budget to work with. With arguably at least 1/4 of the prep time, we still needed to create a high quality experience for the speakers and the attendees.

EXPERIENCE

This was a massive project spanning multiple different platforms and skill sets—some of which I was familiar with, and some of which were new experiences for me. At times, it pushed and stretched me, but I learned a great deal from the process. For the 2024 Conference, the second annual event, I was much more familiar with the responsibilities and technical elements of the production.

OUTCOME

The conference has successfully taken place two years in a row with good reviews from the speakers and attendees alike. I take pride in the quality of the materials created given the time, budget, and team size constraints we work with. Each year has been a learning process, but even with 2024’s constraints, the second year has been a markable improvement in quality.
